Hitherto,
most meetings of the International
Society for History, Philosophy and Social Studies of Biology (ISHPSSB)
have
occurred in North America or Europe, with one meeting in Australia. The
occurrence of the ISHPSSB 2017
Meeting
in Brazil will stimulate a stronger participation of Latin American
researchers. The Brazilian History and Philosophy of Biology Meeting
(EHFB) of ABFHiB is a
medium sized series of annual conference that started in 2003. It
brings
together not only Brazilian researches, but also scholars from other
South
American countries. People concerned with the Zika virus outbreak should consult
information added at the page on Safety and Health of this web site, at the request of the Executive Committee of
the ISHPSSB.
During
the week following ISHPSSB & ABFHiB 2017, another
major international conference will also happen in Brazil: the 25th
International Congress of History of Science, Technology and Medicine (ICHST), promoted by the Division
of History of Science and Technology (DHST) of the International Union
for
History and Philosophy of Science and Technology (IUHPST). It will be
held in
Rio de Janeiro, from 23 to 29 July 2017. Hence,
people
attending the ISHPSSB & ABFHiB 2017 Meeting will be able to
attend the 25th International
Congress of History
of
Science, Technology and Medicine using a single international air
ticket.
