ISHPSSB & ABFHiB 2017 Meeting

During the conference

Your presentation

Official language

The Meeting's official language is English. Every presentation and discusstion will obligatorily be in this language. Thus, both the slides in oral communications and the posters must be presented in English.

Check the general guidelines for your presentation, as well as the tips for your talk and for the posters session.

It is important for you to stay alert about the place and time that your presentations starts. In advance, transfer a copy of you file to the computer from which you will project your slides. Arrive early at the session.

Respect the time limit for your talk, which is 20 minutes, plus 10 minutes for discussion.

Session chairs will be instructed to put into effect these time limits, in order to make sure that participants get able to move from one session to the other without losing part of the talks he/she would like to hear. For the same reason, the exact order of presentations in each session can not be changed from what is described on the final conference's program (available online from July 10, 2017).

The chair will notify the speaker when 15 minutes of her/his time has already elapsed and only 5 additional minutes are available. At this moment, the speaker should decide if it is possible to complete the full presentation in time, or if she/he should abbreviate it. The chair will also notify the speaker when only 1 additional minute is available. At this time, the speaker MUST jump to her/his final comments and conclusion.

Time for discussion is 10 minutes and it is also a task for the chair to put this limit into effect.

In cases when there are no questions or comments and the session finishes before the expected time, the next speaker must wait until the time bound to his/her talk. Otherwise, people that would like to see that specific work and are still moving from one room to the other will not be able to see it.

Classrooms, auditoriums and laboratories in IB-USP, where the conference's parallel sessions will take place, are equipped with computers with internet access, projectors, and speakers. All computers available for the presentations use Windows 10 (except room Minas2, with Windows 7) as their operational system and will have MS Office 2013 and loudspeakers.

In order to be sure, despite the internet conectivity in these computers, you must bring your presentation (PowerPoint, PDF, etc.) in a USB drive, in a compatible-with- Windows format. If you need to use some specific means of communication and require a special software, please tell us at least one month in advance, sending a message to

The conection of individual laptops (or tablets, smartphones, etc) with the projectors will not be allowed due to technical reasons: there may be delays and incompatibility-issues. Check more information about equipments here.

Check for the compatibility of your presentation with the equipment available at the conference beforehand (preferably one or two days  in advance). If there is any problem, it can not be fixed at the place (in the exact moment of your talk). However, if you let us know that there is a problem beforehand (one day until your talk), the problem might be fixed. We also recommend you to save your presentation in more than one place as a safety measure - for instance: flash drive and cloud (Dorpbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, e-mail).
